Clemens Von Doderer

Country Representative, Hanns Seidel Foundation

Since June 2016, Dr Clemens von Doderer is the Resident Representative of the Hanns Seidel Foundation (HSF) in Namibia, a German non-profit organisation operating in more than 70 countries around the world. Together with its local project partners, HSF is committed to promoting democracy, the rule of law, peace and human security, good governance, as well as sustainable economic and environmental development. Representing HSF Namibia at national and international level, Dr von Doderer is responsible for overseeing the planning and implementation of all HSF activities in Namibia.  

Prior to joining HSF, Dr von Doderer served as a Policy Advisor to the Central Association of European Forest Owners (CEPF) in Brussels, Belgium. Within this role, he was responsible for representing and advocating in the interests of European forest owners, vis-a-vis numerous European institutions including the European Parliament, the European Council, and the European Commission. Dr von Doderer has also served on various advisory boards of the European Commission, where his knowledge and expertise provided counsel on a range of issues pertaining to good governance, common agricultural policy, rural development, renewable energies, environmental protection, and biodiversity. In addition, he coordinated the CEPF’s communications and public relations work.

Dr von Doderer holds a Bachelor’s degree in Forest Sciences from the Georg-August-University in Göttingen, Germany, as well as a Master’s and PhD in Agricultural Economics & Management from the University of Stellenbosch, South Africa.
