Oil and Gas is one of the segments of the energy sector where the firm has played a pivotal role, mainly in East Africa. The firm has provided such services as, Environmental and Social Impact Assessments (ESIAs), Environmental Monitoring and Audits, Oil Spill Contingency Planning, Waste management advisory services, and Resettlement Action Planning and Implementation for major Oil & Gas companies. Among the key projects Atacama has successfully delivered is the Social and Resettlement Services for the Tilenga project, involving land acquisition for a major oil company and on behalf of the Government of Uganda (GoU). To date, Atacama has prepared six Resettlement Action Plans (RAPs) for the project and undertaken RAP implementation for five of them. The project is critical for the commercialisation of Uganda’s oil and gas reserves.
