Windhoek will host the second Namibia Oil and Gas Conference from 20 to 22 August .

Co-hosted by the Namibia Investment Promotion and Development Board (NIPDB) and the National Petroleum Corporation of Namibia (Namcor), this event aims to provide a platform for the public and private sectors, entrepreneurs, and the general public to explore investment opportunities in the country’s burgeoning oil and gas sector.

NIPDB Chief Executive Officer, Nangula Uaandja, said that the conference will focus on five key sectors, with particular attention to energy, mining, and agriculture.

Uaandja highlighted the importance of inclusive conversations among industry players across the value chain.

Chairperson of the Economic Association of Namibia (EAN), Jason Kasuto, underscored the need to bridge the information gap to attract investors and ensure the development of an integrated industry.

He called on Namibians to be proactive in making the industry progressive and yielding tangible economic benefits.

The conference will feature over 70 speakers addressing various topics pertinent to doing business and attracting investment in the oil and gas sector.

Attendees will gain insights into unlocking potential investments and fostering collaboration across different sectors.

The 2023 Namibia Oil and Gas Conference, held in Windhoek, attracted over 700 delegates, including industry experts, policymakers, and civil society representatives.

The event provided a platform for large-scale public consultation and emphasised the importance of creating sustainable jobs and integrating the oil and gas industry with the broader economy.

While Namibia is slowly emerging as a noteworthy player in the global oil and gas market, this conference will play a crucial role in shaping the future of the country’s industry.

It will provide opportunities for stakeholders to discuss challenges, explore advancements, and develop strategies to maximise the benefits of the sector for Namibia’s economy and its people.
